Pineapple Ginger Turmeric Wellness Shot

I used to spend a small fortune on those little wellness shots from the juice bar until I realized how easy they are to make at home. This pineapple ginger turmeric shot is my go-to when I need a bright, zingy pick-me-up that actually tastes good. The sweet pineapple balances the fiery ginger and earthy turmeric, and a pinch of black pepper helps your body absorb all that curcumin goodness.

It takes just five minutes and a blender—no fancy juicer required. I make a big batch on Sunday and keep it in a mason jar in the fridge, so I can grab a quick shot whenever I feel a cold coming on or just need a reset. It's naturally vegan, refined-sugar-free, and packed with vitamin C and anti-inflammatory ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh pineapple chunks
  • 1 inch fresh ginger, peeled
  • 1 inch fresh turmeric, peeled (or 1/2 tsp ground)
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 pinch black pepper
  • 1/4 cup water (plus more if needed)

Method

  1. Add pineapple chunks, ginger, turmeric, lemon juice, black pepper, and 1/4 cup water to a high-speed blender.
  2. Blend on high for 30-45 seconds until completely smooth. If the mixture is too thick, add water 1 tablespoon at a time until it reaches a pourable consistency.
  3. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve or nut milk bag into a bowl, pressing on the solids with a spatula to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard solids (or save for smoothies).
  4. Pour the strained liquid into a small glass jar or bottle with a lid. Store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  5. To serve, shake well and pour 2 tablespoons (1 shot) into a small glass. Drink immediately, or dilute with a splash of water or orange juice if desired.

Tips for the Perfect Wellness Shot

Use fresh turmeric if you can find it—it adds a lovely earthy note and even more anti-inflammatory compounds. If using ground turmeric, start with 1/2 teaspoon and adjust to taste. The black pepper is non-negotiable; it boosts turmeric absorption by up to 2,000%.

For a smoother shot, strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve or nut milk bag. If you don't mind the fiber, skip straining—it's good for you. You can also freeze the shots in ice cube trays and pop one into a smoothie or glass of water for a quick boost.
