I first sipped an agua fresca like this at a tiny taqueria in Phoenix, where the heat hit just enough to make the sweet pineapple taste even brighter. It’s been my go-to hydration drink ever since—especially on days when I’ve overdone it on coffee and need something clean, cold, and a little bit fiery.
This isn’t a juice cleanse in a glass; it’s simply water infused with real fruit, herbs, and a whisper of spice. The pineapple adds natural sweetness, lime keeps it tart, mint cools everything down, and jalapeño gives that gentle back-of-the-throat warmth. No added sugar, no artificial anything—just a pitcher of goodness you can sip all afternoon.

Spicy Pineapple Jalapeño Detox Agua Fresca
Ingredients
Method
- Add pineapple chunks, chopped jalapeño, mint leaves, lime juice, and 1 cup of the cold water to a blender. Blend on high until completely smooth, about 45–60 seconds.
- Pour the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer set over a large pitcher. Use a spoon to press the solids against the strainer to extract as much liquid as possible; discard the solids.
- Stir in the remaining 3 cups cold water and the cayenne pepper, if using. Taste and adjust: add more lime juice for tartness or a few extra pineapple chunks blended in for sweetness.
- Add the ice cubes to the pitcher and stir gently. Refrigerate for at least 15 minutes to chill thoroughly.
- Serve over ice in glasses, garnished with a lime slice and a sprig of mint. Best enjoyed within 24 hours.

For a milder drink, remove the jalapeño seeds and membranes before blending. If you want more heat, leave them in and add an extra slice. Taste as you go—every jalapeño varies in intensity.
If you don’t have a blender, muddle the mint and jalapeño in the bottom of a pitcher, then add the pineapple juice, lime juice, and water. Let it sit for 30 minutes before serving. It’s also delicious with a splash of sparkling water for fizz.
