Method
- Preheat your air fryer to 370°F (188°C) for 3-5 minutes.
- Spread softened butter evenly on one side of each bread slice. If using, mix garlic powder and salt into the butter before spreading.
- Place 2 slices of cheese between two bread slices with the buttered sides facing out. Repeat for the second sandwich.
- Place the sandwiches in the air fryer basket in a single layer, leaving space between them for air circulation.
- Cook for 4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and crispy.
- Carefully flip the sandwiches using a spatula and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the second side is golden and cheese is fully melted.
- Remove from air fryer, let cool for 1 minute, slice diagonally if desired, and serve immediately while hot and gooey.

Notes
For extra crispy results, use mayonnaise instead of butter on the outside of the bread. Don't overcrowd the air fryer basket - cook in batches if needed for even browning. Use room temperature cheese for more even melting throughout the sandwich.
