Ingredients

  • 2 ribeye or sirloin steaks 1 to 1.5 inches thick, about 8-10 oz each
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper freshly ground
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons butter for finishing

Method

  1. Remove steaks from refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for 15-20 minutes. Pat dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  2. Brush both sides of the steaks with olive oil. In a small bowl, combine salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Season both sides of the steaks generously with the spice mixture.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F for 3-5 minutes.
  4. Place steaks in the air fryer basket in a single layer, not touching. Cook at 400°F for 7 minutes.
  5. Flip the steaks and cook for an additional 5-7 minutes for medium rare (internal temperature of 130-135°F), or longer for desired doneness.
  6. Remove steaks from air fryer and top each with a tablespoon of butter. Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing to allow juices to redistribute. Serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, use steaks that are at least 1 inch thick - thinner steaks may overcook quickly. Use a meat thermometer to check doneness: 125°F for rare, 135°F for medium rare, 145°F for medium. Cooking times may vary slightly depending on your air fryer model and steak thickness, so adjust accordingly.
