Ingredients
Method
- In a small saucepan, combine the mashed banana, maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla extract, and sea salt. Mix well until smooth.
- Add the milk to the saucepan with the banana mixture. Heat over medium heat, whisking constantly, until the mixture is hot and steaming but not boiling, about 3-4 minutes.
- Transfer the hot milk mixture to a blender and blend on high speed for 30-45 seconds until smooth and frothy. Alternatively, use an immersion blender or milk frother.
- While the milk is heating, prepare 2 shots of espresso or brew 1/2 cup of strong coffee.
- Divide the espresso between two mugs. Pour the blended banana milk mixture over the espresso and stir gently to combine.
- Top with a sprinkle of cinnamon and chopped walnuts if desired. Serve immediately while hot.

Notes
For the best flavor, use a very ripe banana with brown spots as it will be sweeter and blend more smoothly. You can strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve after blending if you prefer a completely smooth texture without any banana bits. This latte can be made ahead and gently reheated, though it tastes best when freshly prepared and served immediately.
