Ingredients

Lavender Syrup
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tbsp dried culinary lavender
Lemonade
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice about 4-5 lemons
  • 3 cups cold water
  • 1/2 cup lavender syrup or to taste
  • 1 lemon sliced, for garnish
  • 4 sprigs fresh lavender for garnish

Method

  1. In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup sugar, 1 cup water, and 2 tablespoons dried culinary lavender. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let steep for 10-15 minutes. Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve into a jar, discarding the lavender. Let cool completely.
  2. In a large pitcher, combine the fresh lemon juice, 3 cups of cold water, and 1/2 cup of the cooled lavender syrup. Stir well to combine.
  3. Taste the lemonade and add more lavender syrup if you prefer a sweeter or stronger lavender flavor. You can also add more water for a less concentrated drink.
  4. Refrigerate the lavender lemonade for at least 30 minutes to ensure it's thoroughly chilled.
  5. Serve the lavender lemonade over ice in individual glasses. Garnish each glass with a slice of fresh lemon and a sprig of fresh lavender.

Notes

For a prettier color, you can add a tiny drop of natural purple food coloring to the syrup. Adjust the amount of lavender syrup to your personal taste; some prefer a subtle hint while others like a stronger floral note. This lemonade is best enjoyed fresh, but can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
