Ingredients

  • 6 cups fresh watermelon cubes seeded and cubed
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice optional
  • 1 cup ice cubes optional, for serving

Method

  1. Cut the watermelon into cubes, removing the rind and as many seeds as possible. You should have about 6 cups of cubed watermelon.
  2. Add the watermelon cubes to a blender and blend on high speed for 30-60 seconds until completely smooth and liquified.
  3. Pour the blended watermelon through a fine-mesh strainer into a large pitcher or bowl to remove pulp and any remaining seeds. Use a spoon to press down and extract all the juice.
  4. If using, stir in the fresh lime juice to enhance the flavor and add a subtle tang.
  5. Refrigerate the juice for 30 minutes if desired, or serve immediately over ice cubes. Pour into glasses and enjoy.

Notes

Choose a ripe, sweet watermelon for the best flavor - look for a yellow spot on the bottom and a hollow sound when tapped. For a slushy texture, freeze watermelon cubes before blending. Store leftover juice in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, shaking well before serving as separation is natural.
